The official Bodoland Movement for an independent state of Bodoland started on March 2, 1987 under the leadership of Upendranath Brahma of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU). Since then Bodos have been demanding and organising different types of democratic means of movement for the creation of separate state BODOLAND. Bodoland is our blood. We'll fight till our demand has been fulfilled. Our demand is legal demand. We are demanding for the creation of separate state Bodoland in the same line of Telengana. We're not going to tolerant any kind of isolated decision of the goverentment. We are also Citizen of the same country. We have the same rights that the other citizens of other parts of the country enjoy. So stop discriminating indigenious Bodo people.
Separate state Bodoland demand was partially paused with the creation of BAC (Bodoland Autonomous Council) in 1993. Bodos thought that this could filfill their hopes and aspirations. But Actually this couldn't happen in reality. So Bodo leaders were compelled to start their revolution again.
So after the statehood movement was revived in 1996, the Centre had told Bodo leaders that it had no policy to create new States.
However, in 2000, the government created three new States, while turning down the demand for a separate Bodoland. Again, at the time of signing the second Bodo Accord, the Centre told the Bodoland Liberation Tigers leaders that it had no policy to create a new State and hence an arrangement under the amended provisions of the Sixth Schedule had to be accepted in lieu of statehood. The 29th New State in India TELENGANA was formed on 2 June 2014 with the city of Hyderabad as its capital. If the Government of India can create a new State of Telangana by denying the long standing demand for Bodoland, it's been unjust to the aboriginal Bodo people. Therefore, we urge the Government of India to create Bodoland in line with the creation of new State in the country..
